I wanted to keep some kind of journal about my life living in England, and I figured what better way to do that, while also keeping my friends and family up to date, than with a blog. So here it is - enjoy; I know I am!

Who Dunnit?

When I was in grades six and seven I absolutely loved reading Agatha Christie, and one of my favourite plays of hers was The Mousetrap.  I probably read it five times in the span of two years.  I even wrote and presented my grade six speech on Agatha Christie.
Well, a few months ago, when Kari and I went to see Stomp, I saw that The Mousetrap was playing in London (and has been for the past 59 years).  I was super excited and added it to my list of shows to see before I go home.
So guess what I did on the weekend?
Kari's friend Trista, who lives in Berlin, came down for a few days.  On Friday night after work we all met for drinks and Thai dinner (scrumptious!), and then on Saturday Kari, Trista and I met Laura, Heather, Sarah and Simon in London for Korean (an all-around fantastic weekend of food).  After dinner Kari, Trista and I went to see The Mousetrap (in case you hadn't already figured that one out).
I was really looking forward to it.  I couldn't remember much about the play, and I definitely had no idea who the killer was - oh!  In case you're wondering: The Mousetrap is a murder mystery that takes place in a guest house newly opened by a young married couple.  There is a massive snow storm and so they and all the guests are stranded, which wouldn't be too terrible apart from the fact that one of the guests is murdered.  The characters then embark on a cat and mouse chase, if you will, and as the story unravels the audience is torn between several possible murderers.
I didn't remember who the killer was until about half-way through the second act, and even then I wasn't one hundred percent sure, it was more of an inclination.  The fact that I wasn't sure, though, likely made my experience that much better - it was a little suspenseful for me (and a little stressfull too; I should have been able to figure it out)!
I thought it was fantastically done!  The acting really was superb; the set was the same throughout the play but it was exquisite; and they used the stage really well.  I was super happy to have had the opportunity to see one of my favourite plays as a child professionally performed for me.
